Teaching in China is becoming even more popular every year. Whether you are a new gruaduate, looking for a career change or a highly skilled business professional, teaching in China has something to offer everyone. The first step is deciding which age group you prefer to teach. Once you know the age you'd like to teach we can send you detailed job information including:

Teach children in China
You are always provided with an in-class assistant who'll support you with anything you need and they'll be there should you have any communication issues so having no knowledge of Chinese is completely fine, and in some cases schools prefer you to have no knowledge at all so you don't fall into the habit of giving automatic translation to the students.
Schools tend to be beautifully decorated with modern facilities including: audio facilities, overhead projectors, 'smart' touch screen whiteboards and multimedia equipment.
Teaching children in China is one of the most rewarding and fulfulling experiences one can have and let's you re-live your childhood. There are 1000s of childrens teaching positions in China and we certainly have one waiting for you!
Almost all positions teaching children are either in a kindergarten/international kindergarten or within a training center or language school. A major difference to working with children in China is the class sizes. You tend to find that class sizes are between 10-25 students as apposed to a public school where class sizes can be anwhere from 50 - 90 students (we gasped at first too!)
This ensures no matter how you choose to deliver your class you'll always have technology to help you out (technophobes don't panic! Remember you have a in class assistant to help you).
Salaries vary on many factors including type of school, school location, teaching experience, education background etc... However you'll find they typically vary from 8,000 - 14,000 RMB. If you teach in a larger city such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou or Shenzhen expect to be paid a higher salary as the cost of living increases.
In addition to the salary you'll be provided with additional benefits as part of a complete compensation package (see below) therefore you'll be able to save money for a rainy day and a sneaky trip or two abroad during your (paid for!!!) holidays. Of course, the amount depends on your spending habits but you should find you can live a more comfortable and enjoyable life in China whilst still adding money to the piggy bank.
If you're wanting to send money back home then it's quite easy to send money back home through a money transfer company such as Western Union.

Public schools in China
Due to the number of students learning English in China, public schools are in high demand for foreign teachers. These days almost all public schools and universities need at least 1 foreign teacher in their school with many now requiring double digit amounts to meet the demand of the Chinese government for students to be skilled in the English language.
If you choose to teach in a public school you may find the salary is slightly lower than offering by a training center or language school. This is because teachers have long winter and summer vacations (either paid or part paid) and working hours are typically only between 15 -20 per week so you'll have plenty of time to nap, travel, laze around, see the beautiful landscapes or pretty much do as you please (legally of course). Typical salaries vary from around 7,000 - 14,000 RMB, again, this is based on a number of factors including type of school, school location, teaching experience, education background etc. You may find the bigger the city the higher the cost of living.
Whilst some schools will accept those without previous teaching experience, public schools in China prefer teachers to have at least 1 year previous teaching experience.

Public school positions include English teaching jobs in either primary, middle, high, senior high or a university setting with Class sizes to tend to be bigger especially in universities where classes can contain between 70-100 students. But don't panic, students love having foreign teacher classes and you'll often find they are more responsive than students in the West making larger classes much more managable.
Teach Adults in China
Teaching adults in China is usually in an adult training center and we currently work with some of the leading training centers in China including Meten English, WEB International and Wall Street English. Salaries tend to be higher typically 10,000 - 20,000 RMB.
Teaching adults is especially ideal for those that want to communicate well with their students in English. The students tend to have a better grasp of the language and are more communicative with teachers. The class sizes are very small with only around 2-6 students per class in most cases.
Schools tend to be beautifully decorated with modern facilities including: audio facilities, overhead projectors, 'smart' touch screen whiteboards and multimedia equipment.
This ensures no matter how you choose to deliver your class you'll always have technology to help you out (technophobes don't panic! Remember you have a in class assistant to help you).
With these schools, teaching hours tend to be around 25 per week and an additional 10-15 hours are required as 'class prepartion' hours. 2 days rest is always provided by schools and these are in almost all cases consecutive so teachers can plan short trips and see what China has to offer (and there's certainly a lot!).
